I know that it can be hard to find everything you need on the Parkview website, so I try to give a quick overview here. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Go to the Parkview website for more information.
Daily Schedule
Arrival – Students may be on campus in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) from 6:45-8 am. Our state-funded breakfast program begins at 7:45am. Students may enter the supervised school grounds at 8:05 am. Our school day begins at 8:20 am.
AM Recess – AM Recess is from 9:45-10:05am. Please pack a healthy snack for your child if possible.
Lunch – Students eat free at Parkview. Students can also bring their own lunch from home. Our class eats lunch from 11:25-12:10pm.
PM Recess – PM Recess is from 1:30-1:45pm.
Dismissal – Dismissal is at 2:25 pm. Students will be dismissed from the Lawn Door of the classroom, not the Courtyard Door. I will ask students to give me a high five before they leave, and I will look to make eye contact with the adult picking them up. Please make sure to let me know if there will be a change in who is picking up your child.
If your child needs to be checked out of school early for any reason, please report to the administrative office. The school secretaries will assist you in securing the proper release of your child.
Transportation – If your child has any changes in their transportation please let the office know as soon as possible. This includes riding the bus home with a friend, having a relative pick your child up, or riding the bus if your child is normally a car rider.
Absences, Medication, and More
Absences – Please let the office know if your child will be late or absent. Please call the office at (530) 891-3114. Each time your child is absent send a parental or doctor’s excuse. Please limit doctor or dentist appointments to after school hours whenever possible. We don’t want your child to fall behind.
Conferences – Parent-Teacher conferences will be held in November. If you need to meet with me at any other time during the year, please contact me on Parent Square and we’ll set up a time for you to come in and discuss any concerns you may have.
Lost and Found – Please check often! It’s best to write your child’s names on jackets and lunch boxes, while encouraging responsibility.
Medication – Prescription medication must be given through the nurse’s office and may not be brought into the classroom. Check with the school secretary for a medication form. If your child has a medical problem of any type please let me know as soon as possible. These can include medications needed or a change in your daily routine that may affect your child. Please also let me know of any food allergies.
Money – Money sent for any reason such as field trips, picture money, or book orders should be sent in a sealed envelope with the child’s name, teacher’s name, and purpose please.
Personal Items – Personal items such as backpacks, lunch boxes, and coats/jackets/sweaters should be labeled with your child’s name. Please do not send any extra items such as toys or valuables unless specifically requested. It’s never fun when beloved belongings get misplaced…
Phone Calls – The office will not interrupt instructional time during the day for phone calls. Our number at school is: (530) 891-3114. The best way to reach me is via ParentSquare or email (kcordy@chicousd.org).
Rules – All school rules are listed in the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support Handbook. School rules are also listed in the following areas on campus: Common areas, Cafeteria, Playground, Bathrooms, Arrival and Dismissal areas, Library, Computer Lab, as well as the Classroom. Rules are also regularly discussed, practiced, and reinforced with students. Students are always expected to follow the school’s theme of “Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible” throughout the school.
Shoes – Please have your child wear shoes they are comfortable running around in for Recess and P.E.
Volunteers and Visitors – Volunteers and visitors must register in the office prior to entering the classroom. If you would like to volunteer, please make sure that you fill out a volunteer packet online as soon as possible. Volunteers also need a TB test every two years. If you volunteered in Kindergarten, then you do not need a TB test this year. During volunteer times I will ask you to help with a variety of tasks. Some tasks include helping with a small group, circling the room helping students who are raising their hands, helping at a center rotation, or helping with prepping materials, or helping on field trips. Please let me know if there is a particular task that you would prefer prior to volunteering.
